I have the old style contender, and it's agrivating to have to open the action to reset the striker, if you cock the gun and have to let the hammer down again in a hunting situation. Can T/C upgrade them to the G2?

Since new owner, S&W has switched the factory over to making rifles I would say no.

I thought S&W owned T/C. Did they sell it to Remington?

I hope not. TC is bad enough now with smith owning them.Remington would kill them for sure.

It's not necessary to actually have to open the action to re-cock. If you apply enough upward pressure to the barrel at the same time as your pressing on the trigger guard, you can reset the hammer so that it will cock. Try it, it's worked for me.

Just shop around and pick up a G2 frame. Everyone needs at least one more T/C Frame plus S&W isn't going to make any more of them. It much easier just re cocking than it is to hold the barrel shut and squeeze the trigger guard hoping you maintain lug engagement.
