So if I understand correctly, I can lube non-TL boolits with just Lee Alox and no hard wax in the groove. Is that correct? I'm thinking about getting a Lee 452-200-SWC mould for my 1911. Any concerns with this set up? Thanks!

I have no problem with using LLA on any boolit. In fact IMHO that is all the lube needed unless you are going for full bore J word ballistics.

You are correct.
I do it every day.
I use straight LLA or Xlox but most people thin it.
Do not worry about that empty groove.

That mold is in my opinion the very best bullet available fir the 1911 .45 ACP.

That's great to hear! Thanks for the information. Now, on with the plan.

Get ya a plastic soda bottle cap and fill it with thinned alox. Now each bullet can be dipped and sat aside to dry with no sticky lube on the noses. Its now the only method i use for cast.

You should check out Recluse's 45/45/10 formula for tumble lubing. Lot less sticky (and some would say more effective) lube for all types of tumble lubing. 45% Alox, 45% Johnson's Paste Wax, and 10% Mineral Spirits, by volume. Works great!

I have a 6 cavity of this boolit and use 45/45/10 exclusively with it. Works great in all the 1911's in the family.

I use tumble lubing on the vast majority of my cast loads. I don't have any leading problems.

Remember, fit is more important than any other factor in stopping leading! Unless you're pushing some super velocities, TL will work.
