Both of my 20# pots are 110V. I see pots set-up for 220V. Is that just to take care of folks where 220 is as far as power is stepped-down or is there some advantage? One big disadvantage I can see is that my PID is 110V. Jest curious.

No real advantage. Watts are watts. 110 (120) volts is commonly used in the US and Canada. A lot of Europe uses 220.

If you have a 1500 watt or larger pot then running 220 is a bit easier on your house wiring. The lead, however, cannot feel the difference. I converted Magma 1500watt 40 pounder from 110 to 220, and it worked exactly the same.

More places to plug in 110.

That ^^^^^^^^

Are you sure your PID is limited to 110V? Most go well over 240VAC.

If your 20 pounder is the Lee that consumes 5.5 amps, that's about half of what a hair dryer pulls. Point- already stated- no problem for normal house wiring.
