I have a, non altered, 1886 Lebel.
Stock has seen better days, but the rest in not bad.
I need some help on the rear trigger guard screw.
Hoping someone might have one, or know of some pictures of the screw.
Question is: What is the screw suppose to look like????
The front screw is a spanner head screw. The one on my rifle is a round head screw.

I wonder if a standard Mauser screw would work?

Here is a pic off of my R35 carbine, but it should be the same. Front is one of those funny spanner screws.

I've searched the web and found some pictures with different rear screws.
Some spanner, some round, some with a buldging head.
The one I have has a buldging head.
Any of the three would work. I just would like it to look original.

If a Mauser screw matches the threads, you can re-contour the head. Chuck it up in a drill press, use a file and sand paper. Then, heat to dull red, and oil quench for a quick and dirty blue job.

They are standard metric thread but I don't remember the size right off hand. I just turned and threaded one up for Dad's.
