Is anyone out there loading this in .41 mag? If so, what's your overall cartridge length? All the manuals list a max length of 1.59", but there's no way this boolit can be loaded that short.

I seat in the crimp groove for a Dan Wesson and a M-57 Smith with no difficulty. I am pretty sure that I shot them in my old Ruger BH, but it has been a long time. A friend's new BH is too tight to take the front driving band of my boolits, but I think it is long enough.

1.700" and that's with my HP version and I use a nosepicker top punch which may slightly compress the OAL during sizing.

I'd say that Felix's figures are pretty close to mine if it was a solid.

No trouble in my SBH with length./beagle

Yupper. 1.700" is it. The 410459 is the original Keith type bullet from Lyman. If you put a 358429, a 429421, and the 410459 side by side the 41 bullet has a narrower front driving band. I don't know if the late Mr. Keith designed it this way or if Lyman modified his design. The nose is rather long it seems. CB.

Pity old Elmer couldn't have squeezed a 240 grainer out of that design but I guess that's asking too much. It is a pretty long nose but the best .41 bullets I've shot out of the SBH./beagle

I trim cases to length, then seat and fully roll crimp to the forward limit of the crimp groove. Crimped case mouth OD is coincident with diameter of forward driving band. Never measured the length. Exceptionally accurate in the two M-57s I've had.

thanks, guys! I really appreciate the info. This is my first ever batch of cast boolits, and I wanted a little assurance from the experts.

The front band on my 44K version is actually smaller than the band on my 41K version. Both of mine are circa 1970-1974. Who knows what cherries they used, new, old, halfway in between. They have the round grooves. ... felix

As I remember- Lyman changed the design-- -to (I guess) let the rounds chamber better? Also it has a round grease groove--Elmer fussed--- I have used this bullet in 57's- Blackhawks- Redhawks--DWA-TC's-- no problems--very accurate- took one deer- and it did its job--- only wish meplat was larger my imho

Here's an article I saved about the bullet in question. The author modified the mould (HP version) for his use.

Some history of this mould's development for your reading enjoyment.
