Anyone use Varget for the 06 ?
I was thinking of trying it in my 03A3 with LEE 185 and NOE 202

I have found Varget, RL15 and 4064 all good for cast in the '06. About 30 grains works well with #311299 in a boltgun, it takes 35-36 grains to cycle the M1 Garand.

I used it for years in a max j-word load, very nice. Looking forward to trying it under a more sedate cast boolit some day but my 30-06's are CB holdouts...for now.

Should work, start with 29 gr with a 3/4 gr dacron filler.

My go to powder for 30.06. 32-33 grains with 311299 and 311284 with Dacron.

what kind of velocity are you guys getting from these loads? my only experience with Varget is in .223 and .308 jacketed so far and 308 used a bit more. curious if full power or close is possible without filler?

I love Varget in my 30-06! However, I am also talking about a 150 SST at 2950 fps... ... ...

FWIW...

I only have one Ought Six. and it is a Garand so I only use published loads just for IT.
Other than that in all my other rifles Varget is the only powder I use except for my 300WM.
I think Varget is a phenominal powder that even Hodgdon doesn't know everything it can work very well in.
