Hi all!

I've been snooping here in the background for a few months now. While I've been reloading for a while and shooting for even longer, I just started casting about a year ago and have gotten hooked big time. 4 Months ago I ordered my first custom mold from Accurate (Aluminum with 3 cavities in 43-250K and 1cavity in 43-320B) and have since then developed a custom mold addiction. Anyways, I figured it was time to join so that I could post as well as just read. I know I'm going to have mold and lube questions.

I live in Northern IL (Rockford area). My degree and job is Mechanical Engineering, which gives me a pretty sound technical understanding of what is involved with casting, reloading, and shooting. My firearms interest is primarily cast bullets in big bore revolvers but my safe has at least one example of every major type of firearm and I enjoy shooting them all. Anyways, I look forward to getting to know everyone around here - it sure seems like a friendly place!

Welcome aboard!

I got into casting about the same time as you. Only got one custom mold so far, I'm sure I'll get more. I like the MP brass 200 SWC mold I got. Working with good tools is it's own reward.

"4 Months ago I ordered my first custom mold from Accurate"

Never a bad idea. I got an awesome 3 cavity aluminum mold from Tom about the same time.

Welcome to the forum! I got into casting only about 6 months ago, but this site is a goal mine of information and helpful people.

You only have two choices at this point; leave and never come back or find a good addiction counselor. Just thought of a third option; give all your money to someone else to manage who doesn't like guns, shooting, casting or any associated activities.

Welcome, it is a bit surprising of how many engineers and those of like mind wind up here from what I have seen. You are in good company here and please feel free to ask for assistance and if you have anything to add, please do. We all gain from the ideas and observations of others. :-)

OK you got me there. The closest I have is a 1963-ish JP Sauer & Sohn double barrel 12 gauge.

One could stroll over to the "Shiloh-Sharps" thread, and alleviate that problem.....

Welcome, used to spend some time up that way at Northwest Steel and Wire. It was 40 years ago or so.

Welcome to the forum neighbor.

I lurked in the background for a couple of years before actually joining, reading as much as I could. There's a lot of knowledge accumulated here and I felt my time was much better spent reading and learning than chiming in. Seemed like any question asked that I could answer intelligently, had already been answered several times by the time I ever saw it. The answers to questions here seem to come just as fast as the 'I'll take it' responses in the swappin and sellin section.

Anyhow, it's nice to have another local fella aboard.
