Hello everybody,
I recently acquired an older unopened can of Universal Clays. I load the old BRP 200 gr cast boolit.

Does anyone have experience with this powder in the 8mm? I'm considering trying Unique data since the burn rate is similar.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

JRR,

I've experimented with Unique under a 160 grain boolit, which is okay for plinking, IMHO. I prefer a medium burning powder in the 4895/4064 range for modest cast loads. The link below might help answer your question:

I hope this helps,

I've used unique in my 8mm with good results, so universal clays should be ok. Start low. Be very careful not to double charge!

It might be good to drop the "clays" when you discuss this powder like Hodgdon has
done. The inevitable confusion with "Clays" (not Universal or International) has been
a minor nightmare and the names no longer have that second word in them.

Universal is similar in Unique in burn rate, so it should be usable in a similar way, although
not at the same charge weights.
