My T/C Encore in 250 Sav likes 16 gr of 5744 which routinely bangs the gong out at 400 yards. The boolit is from an old Lyman spire point mold dropping at 100 grs.

It depends on the age of your savage. If it is an old one they set the twist such that they could get 3000 fps. They usually won't shoot anything over 87 grains well in jacketed bullets,
Later they changed the twist to accomodate heavier bullets.
