I know it may seem odd but I'd like to get as many sample micrometer readings as possible per each size primer.

SO here goes:

SPP
Rem 1 1/2 - measures 4.42 mm (.1740) inch; wide and 3.08mm (.1213) inch thick
CCI 500 - 4.44mm (.1748) inch; wide 2.99mm (.1177) inch thick

SRP
Tula kvb223 SRP 4.43mm (.1744) inch; wide and 2.99mm (.1177) inch thick
Fed 205M Match SRP 4.45mm (.1752) inch; wide and 3.00mm (.1181) inch thick.

I went through this a few years ago with SRPs and LRPs.

the wolf primers ran thick and thin on width. That's why I was checking as the seating effort was all over the map.

I was using English standard units of course.

CCI450's SRMagnum 0.1745" dia (older red and grey box)
Winchester SR 0.1748" dia (blue box)

that's just off the boxes that I wrote on that I still have left in the drawer.

prtimers can be all over the map as far as size is concerned!

I stopped using CCI primers in the late 70's because they were so hard to seat, I've always primed basic loads in a Lee seater tool, but I do prime in the machine when I use the Dillon to make large batch's of ammo and even then I could feel see the difference.

Switched to Federals as primer of choice in '78 with Winchester as a back up brand and put up a goodly supply of both.

Fast forward to today's supply issues and I can't tell you how glad I am that I did that!

I am not competing as I did in the 70's / 80's so don't burn the primers today I did then so I haven't had the need to check currently made primers of any brand.

Perhaps some interested parties can post current makers diameter and this could be compiled into a sticky for future refference?

This was in a chart but I was unable to keep the format. I hope the info stays as I have it. If not it is attached as PDF file.
Measured 6 of each. That was how many of the first batch I did so I used that for the rest. I have others but I got tired.http://castboolits.gunloads.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Nice chart. This is what I plan to do with the data once it is all collected.
