22 cal / 55gr for 22-250

Am about to purchase a double cavity Lyman mold with the intent of loading for my 22-250. Have ZERO experience with small bullets. Shootin pure Line o type. What diameter sizing / lube die should I plan to use? If it matters, I have a 1 - 12" twist Shilen barrel I'm pushing it through . . .

Best to slug the barrel and measure it. It is common to size .001-.002 over the slugged size. With a cast boolit, fit is the key to keeping your barrel lead free. Additionally, properly sized boolits are more accurate. An undersized boolit allows gas cutting on the boolit and that destroys accuracy. That being said, I size my .22 cal boolits for my Contender pistol at .226 and for my AR at .225 only because that's where my barrels slug to.
