I ordered this last year, just got it a few days ago. Steel frame in 38-40. To bad I have tendinites in my right elbow, Guess I will have to learn to shoot left handed.
Anyone have any loads for the 38wcf/ 38-40 using a 200gr BBRF? Also have mihas 180gr mold for the 40S&W/10mm

Fine looking shooting Iron, I can't see it to well but is that a case hardened frame ?
Looks like it. Best of luck with it and easy on the old elbow.

I do quite a bit with these guns. The color case is not real tho. And actually none of the current makers do real color case anymore...not even colt.

Steel has gotten a lot better and heat treating tech is even more advanced.

Real good looking gun. I hope it shoots as well as it looks.

Try a two pound training weight around your wrist.
It really helps me.

I used to use two of them in CAS shooting. I used a Magma 180gr bullet wtih 5.0gr of Trail Boss. Accurate, the recoil is mild, and the powder comes close to filling the case. I also experimented with a Lyman 401452, but that would not feed through my Uberti lever action. For a while, I was shooting the Magma through the rifle and the 401452 through the handguns.

When not shooting CAS I tried heavier loads, up to 8.5gr of Unique. That was a problem when the center (base) pin started jumping forward and tying up the gun. I later went to Belt Mountain base pins and did not have a problem afterward. I don't shoot those kind of loads in this gun anymore because I have better guns for heavy loads.

The trigger/bolt spring is weak and I had two of them break. They have since been replaced with a wire spring. No problems afterward. The aftermarket Wolff main spring (lighter) is not necessary, but it is nice.

I have since converted them to 41 Long Colt caliber. 10.0gr of Swiss black powder and a 218gr soft lead bullet.

I've been thinking about one for a while, too. I'd appreciate more pictures.

Nice looking piece. I fought tendinitis in my elbow for a couple of years, gave up and had surgery cause nothing else worked and have never looked back. 0 post surgical pain since the day after.

I am shooting a original Colt Bisley in that caliber with a 4 3/4 barrel. 8.5 Unique shoots to the sights with the Lyman 401043 bullet, but way to powerful for cowboy shooting. I was using 6.0 grains 700X for a reduced load but still too powerful for cowboy. Now I am down to 4.5 700x and it is were I want to be. While I have not put it on paper to check for accuracy and bullet impact, it works fine for the 6 yard steel target of cowboy action shooting.
