Yesterday about 2 PM I refilled my Lee 20 lb pot
So I came inside to get a drink

Long storty short I left the pot on for 30 hours at about 680 - 700 degrees with 15 or so lb of 50% WW and 50 % Range lead

When it dawned on me at 6 tonight
I went out to turn off the pot

But figured the lead was melted , heated up the Mould I was using and casted the pot empty

I had a layer of sawdust ash on the top to reduce oxidation
So I stired it in and refluxed the batch
Hard to tell with the original ash on top
But there didn't seem to be extra to skim off

The bullets seemed to cast just fine

But Will this batch be any different ? Harder or softer ?

I was using a RCBS 35 cal 250 gr mould

I am working up a load or 2

Only hurt your Electric Bill....

Now if you had it at 1,000 deg... ;)

Yep, it's fine.

If I'd done that with my Lee pot, though, it all would've dribbled out the bottom.

Even if it ran wide open for 30 hours (which it didn't, the thermostat cycles it), you would have used about 24 kwhrs. Where I live, that's $2.40 worth of electricity.

I did this once on purpose. I was trying to separate the alloy and get pure lead. I left it on for 3 days as I recall, fluxing and skimming several times each day. By the way, it didn't work. Your alloy should be fine.

Look at it this way, the electric wasted would have been worth a few more drinks! :drinks:
