Are there any 25 cal cast boolit shooters out there? The 25-303 has the same case capacity as a 243 for a comparison which is right between a 250 Savage and a 257 Roberts. My gun has a 1-in-10" twist so I'd be looking at heavier boolits at lower velocity I should think. I have H4350 (AR2209) and W780 as well as faster W748 and even faster H4227 (AR2205) and Lil'Gun. I'd prefer plain based boolits. I would most likely start by making a smooth side mold unless I found a reasonably priced mold first.

Your thoughts and input would be appreciated, thanks.

Will you paper patch it Peter?

No, I'm thinking lighter loads with plain cast - or as much as accuracy will allow. It's just a little small for paper patching although I have two paper patch molds for it.

I shoot cast out of my 25-06, Lyman 257420 and 257454 ( both are gas checked). More capacity than your 25-303 but the gun does have a 1 in 10" twist. Surprisingly to me, the shorter/lighter 257420 shoots the best. IMR 4198 worked best, with Dacron filler, 3/4" to 1" at 100yds for 5 shots, right around 1950 fps. Bullets were cast from ACWW + a little tin and lubed with Felix lube.
The 257454 shot best with Alliant 2400 and Dacron. I normally wouldn't use Dacron with 2400, but I tried it and it helped. Right around 1875 fps and shoots 1" to 1 1/2" at 100yds, 5 shot group.
Bullets were cast from ACWW + a little tin, only 3 grooves were lubed with Felix lube.
Hope this helps.

I shoot cast from my M99 250-3000. My mould is a LBT 100gr. LFN gas check. So far 22.0gr. RL-7 & 21.0gr. IMR4198 are working well. I have a load with IMR3031 but can't remember the charge off the top of my head.
