We left Texas on August 1st. Exactly 1 year to the day that we arrived in Texas, How fitting. We got here to NC on the 5th and moved into our new house that day. Stopped for sightseeing in Baton Rouge, Montgomery Al and Augusta Ga on the trip. It was a nice trip. Its beautiful here, The weather is nice, Our neighbors are cool as ever, I think Ill be happy here for a few years. Were settling in pretty nice. 3/4 of unpacking is done (My get up and go has got up and went). Soooooo glad to finally be out of Texas

Not sure that I can welcome you to North Carolina from South Carolina, but if I could, I would. Hope y'all get settled in and everyone's happy.

The best advice I can give is to request 5 permits to purchase a pistol at a time...

I never did get stationed at Hood permanently in my 24 years, but I'd take Hood over Bragg as a duty station any day. Hope N.C. suits you.

Now it is the hassle of getting the kids registered and ready for school.

IIRC you are now free at last. But no more berms to mine.

Welcome to the East Coast. Give yourself time to get settled, find MD's and treatment providers, and get the kids ready for school. You know the drill, you have to educate the school system and at least some of the MD's!

Well, I served at Ft Hood for over 2 years. I'm a native hillbilly from WNC. I always said that if God wanted to give the USA an enema, he's stick it in Ft Hood & flush.
(Now I think he's trying to decide between NYC & San Francisco.)
In any event, if you are at Bragg, realize this;
Get away from the base & enjoy the good stuff about NC.

I spent alot of time back in my service days at a buddys parents place in NC. Allways liked it there. It looks alot like the Nothern michigan but with the thermostat cranked up.
