base thickness

I'm designing a plain base mold for my 41 mag. Is there an advantage to designing a boolit with a thicker base?

Sice no one else answered, I'll give you my opinion.

As long as you are not talking about some drastic reduction the answer would be no. However deigning a bullet is a lot more complicated than your question.
Advise: Read more on this forum and talk to people that are years ahead of you in what you want to do with the bullet you want.
Decribe what you want to do in this caliber and let the experts dictate the necessary projectile. You won't be sorry!
