Velocity ?

Deer season is next weekend and I wanted to ask a velocity question. I have a Lee 360 gr. hollow base mold that I am casting some bullets with using straight wheel weights and wanted to ask those that are more knowledgeable than myself at what velocity should I be shooting these to obtain a good deer load? Thanks

That caliber and weight should knock the snot out of any deer at 1000 fps. or more.

How well does it fit the bore? It was undersized for my guns and didn't shoot well at all. It worked somewhat in my A&H because its bore is .499.

I'd be curious how the ww work too..

80gr of FFg and the 360 gr bullet should be PLEANTY of whoomp on a deer.

I took a nice one at 50 yds with 80 gr of ffg and 333gr maxi. LOTS o penetration.

Your WW's ought to be fine.

Shot my cast bullets today. Started with 80 grains of triple 7. Average velocity was 1599 fps. Accuracy wasn't that great. Then used 70 grains. Average velocity was 1412 fps. Next and last was 60 grains. Average velocity was 1332 fps. Accuracy was best with 60 grains and no leading that I could see. Here is a pic of my last three shot group with the 60 grains at a distance according to my range finder was 68 yards. Not the best but I know some of the lack of accuracy is my fault. Loading the cast bullets was pretty similar to the sabots I have used in the past.

I'd use the 60gr and have NO worries about not being able to down a deer with it!
