Did my thrift store pewter shopping today and hit the jackpot. $18 for this lot. Great way to start my Saturday. I'm like a bear, living in Fort Lauderdale, I collect up all my casting needs and wait for winter so I can do some casting.

I haven't seen 15 lbs of pewter all together in the last 20 years, and I frequent at least half a dozen thrift/salvage stores weekly.
Ya done Good.

Man.... I just left the Thrift and Salvation Army stores and didn't find so much as a wallet size frame, much less any pitchers/platters or mugs. [smilie=b:

That's a real nice score! :holysheep

I stopped at a yard sale on the way home today and picked up a nice little pewter pitcher (weighed 10.5 oz.) for $1.50. Didn't make it to the garage with it. Wife thought it was really pretty so now it sits on a shelf in the living room. Good thing I've still got about 20 rolls of 63/37 solder I bought from Grainger a couple years ago.

After the seller gets the cash, you got to learn to step on the stuff before the wife sees it. If the pewter covers her birthday and christmas presents you've probably got off cheap. I guess you can see the grins.

I had that happen once. Now I normally will put a few dents in them to prevent that.
