I have several molds I need help identifying. They were part of a package deal.
Saeco , not Saeco- Redding, 377 , 281 plain base , 315, and 371. All are 8 cavity.
Also Lyman 356637BV and Lyman 311410. Both 4 bangers. And an H&G X342 plain base 4 banger.
Thanks

the lyman 311410 is a 130 gr spire point for 30 caliber as I found that one in the castpics info below.

no idea on the others, but I suspect the 356637BV is a 9mm of sorts.

you selling any? I may be interested in the 311410....

I am trying to figure out if I need/want to keep these molds. I really should know what I have before deciding.

no problem.

why don't you cast with them to see what you have?

#315=tapered 30-30TC 175 grain 4 lube + crimp groove

#377=9mmTCBB 122 gr

Can you post pics of 281 & 371 I think I know what they are but need to see pics & check my buddy's old Saeco chart(and I mean old, hanging in his garage longer than I can remember)

Far as I know the Saeco # has never changed when the company has changed hands, although some modifications were made to some over the years, which caused confusion.

I would be interested in the # 315 if you're selling.

Sagamore-one:

The 356637 was introduced in 1991: "The new 147 grain 9mm bullet designed to duplicate federal agency and U. S. Military specifications. Its unique [long!] bevel base fits the 9mm case without side bulging." It has an ogival nose with a fairly wide flat point. A 125-gr. hollow-point version followed in 1992; both are still listed. The "BV" is a code for the outside supplier who made the cherry for Lyman. Blammer has covered the 311410, which has been around since 1927, shortly after Lyman took over the Ideal line.

Normally I would cast and see.... but I just got back from closing out a retired caster. I ended up with more than 25 moulds. The H&G were easy to figure out but the Saeco were not. I thought someone on this site might know off hand what I had. When I get all squared away I plan to give members of this site first shot at purchase of my duplicates. The 371 Saeco still puzzles me.

Thanks to everyone for the input. Mr.Jon-k ...you were right on about the #377, but the 315 casts a tapered 30 cal boolit at 150 grains with # 2 alloy. It mikes .314 at the base and tapers to .304 at the front band with either 4 grease grooves plus a crimp groove or maybe 5 grease grooves. I believe it to be a Pope style E , 30 cal plain base target boolit.
The mystery # 281 casts a 7mm ,130 gr plain base boolit and mikes at .289.
Again ... thanks for the input.
