161,

I can tell you I like mine! It has a .313 bore that likes cast just fine. That seems like a good price, at least so far. That one is prettier than mine. They are good guns.

I have a Sako Civil Guard M 39 that is a tack driver: Very well constructed, front sight easily adjusted for windage, what's not to like? Btw, mine takes a CB sized to .312" (tried .311" & .313", but not nearly as accurate as .312"). In any event, you'll need to slug the bore and examine the crown if you win that rifle.

Both the SAKO and VKT (Valmet) versions are great rifles. Can't tell from the photos what that one is, and no description. Should be a great shooter, and pretty collectable to the right person.

I have one of these. Mine likes the Lee. 312-155-2R cast from wheelweights, GC crimped on in Lee. 314 die, leaving bullet itherwise as-cast and unsized, use Lee Liquid Alox and either 7.5 grains of Bullseye or 16 rains od #2400. Cast out shoots ball ammo. I expect 2 inches or less at 100 yards with open sights, and 4-5 inches at 200 yards. Set sight elevator to 300 meters for 100 yards and 600 meters for 200 yards.

That is a "B" barrel M39 which appears to have the reddish tint to the barrel, that has something to do with the bluing process. More info here http://www.mosinnagant.net/finland/finnish_mosin_nagantm39.asp , about 1/4 down the page look for barrel markings. By the look of the stock, this would be called by some as "unissued" and probably has a very new bore.

I have 2 M39's and they group very well using surplus of almost all types. Can't really complain about any ammo I've shot with them.

Best pull the trigger on the buy, someone reading this will like that rifle.

Here is some recent discussion on another board concerning these rifles. As you might see, the plum color is not readily apparent in all photos. Remember not all are plum colored and your link appears that way close to the rear sight base, at least in my eye. http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?325981-Questions-regarding-Finn-M39-quot-B-quot-barrel-with-plum-colored-barrel

The B barrels are of harder and tougher steel and made by a different process. My M39 is a 1968 arsenal rework and while less desirable to a collector as a mixed parts gun, the bore is slick and smooth and the rifle shoots better than my 1934 M28/30 Civil Guards rifle.

78821The B barrels were first made for the M91 then after the war some of the B barrels were cut to fit the M39 rifle. I have a M91 and a M39 that are both B barrel models. The reason the barrels are reddish color it is the high nickel in the steel. Most if not all M39 are .310 and M91 Fins are .308-.310 bore. I have four M91s 2 finn and 2 Russia models the Russia bore are all over the place. Most Finn Model 39 and Model 91 with the D stamp like heavy cast bullets I shoot Lee 185 and 155 sized to .312 gas checked and SPG lubed.

Just love the look of the arctic birch in those stocks.
