Got my two new NEI bullet moulds last week, one for my 550 Gibbs and one for my 577 Gibbs BME.
The 550 casts an 881gr bullet out of WW, 1.48" long
The 577 casts a 1010gr bullet out of WW, 1.510" long
Either one empties a 20lb Lyman or RCBS pot pretty quick.

Tomorrow I start load testing the 550 Gibbs, pray for me.

Elmer Keith would be proud of you. They say his idea of the perfect caliber /bullet combination was a cast iron cook stove at 2500fps.You're getting pretty close.

And I thought I was being wasteful by shooting 260 grain .35's. Are you recovering your lead?

BTW, you can develop arthritis by shooting rounds like that from the shoulder. A lot of recoil can be fun but in excess it can do permanent damage which will creep up on you too.

Exactly when is T Rex season ?

Or are you trying to fill 2 buffalo tags with 1 shot ?

When your shoulder blades touch from recoil , it is enough powder :mrgreen:

Enjoy

I'm thinking more along the line of when both shoulders are on the same side of your body, one forward, one rearward, head facing in the direction of where the shoulder should be, eyeballs hanging on cheek bones.

Wouldn't even want to watch someone pull the trigger on that beast, unless it weighs in the neighborhood of 40 lbs!

Rich, there was a video on ytube sometime back, About a half dozen guys shooting what I believe was a 505. One shooter was spun around and ran into the wall. Couple of them let go during the recoil phase. And generall all except
one (who knew how to actually mount and fire such a beast) ended up crashing and burning. Have fun, Frank

Those videos were all made by Saeed, the owner of the Accurate Reloading board, of his friends shooting his A-Square .577 Tyrannosaur. One or two are of folks shooting a .460 Weatherby. Often a video is attached to some racist crap like "Why Arabs Can't Shoot" or some such, but the big European and American guys didn't handle the big A-square any better than the little guys. One of those little guys shot it three times in a row and didn't drop it, either. Got to give him credit! If you're an Accurate Reloading forum member, you can log in there, go to the "Humor" section and see all of the videos. Some of them are a hoot! But you and I would be a hoot to watch shooting those guns, too.

Well said, Ricochet. Those are funny videos but I'd be the same way if I shot one too. I'm 145#. I'd go for a nice long ride!!

Ricochet, thanks for the caliber. Darned crs again. Methinks thats more fun than anyone should have to tolerate except when facing something that thinks you are its next meal. Frank
