ok i'm getting ready to cast for a G19 and i'm wondering what has worked for others.. with 9mm

light or heave boolit weights?

shapes? RN or TC?

what molds have worked out for people?

and please don't turn this into a ''Cast or No cast in Glocks'' thread. there are threads on that already and i load boolits in 45ACP for a glock already with no issues.

thanks.

I just got a lyman 4 cavity 147 gr mold for that same purpose. Will let you know how it turns out

I have had excellent results with both the Lyman 356402 and the old H&G #7. Both are truncated cone style that weigh about 125 grains. I've found that this style and weight works well in every 9mm I've ever used them in, including the H-K MP5. As an aside my current 9mm is a Glock 17. I've fired thousand of cast bullets in this pistol without any issues. I like the 125 grain cast because they work well with small charges of fast powders like Bulleye, 231, HP38 etc. Lighter (shorter) bullets have caused feeding issues, heavier bullets limit powder choices. I've never been a fan of "sub sonic" 9mm in anything but a suppressed sub machine gun.

I am haveing good luck with a Lee .358 105g swc. Really drop closer to 112g behind 3.5g of BE and get 1050fps and brass lands at my feet and shoots really well out of stock barrel and feeds just fine. Hope this helps. Bullet is sized to .358 and tumble lubed in 45/45/10.

Have Lyman 356402 120 gr Conical and H& G 331 124 gr RNBB. I have had great results with both and use both. Feed both my Glock and SMG. They both love both types of bullet. If looking for powder don't overlook Herco.

I think of 124/125 as the best combination of weight and velocity in a 9mm. However, I have chosen 147 for bowling pins.

I should add that my gun is a full sized 1911, Kimber Aegis, so YMMV.

I'm another fan of 125 grain-class bullets/boolits in the 9mm, and favor the TC form over RN.

I've been running the Lyman 356636 (if I'm recalling the number correctly) in my 9s. Weighs 140 and has a large meplat, which I'm a fan of. For practice I've been pushing it to about 850 fps. Functions just fine and shoots very well. Mine have to be water dropped even though I size them oversize. But when that's done, they lead not at all.

Just started a thread on my brother's new Glock 19 and cast bullets. I loaded the Lee 124gr. TC bullet with standard lube groove sized @ .358 over a .5CC Lee dipper of 700X. I use the dipper because that powder meters like junk. Shoots good in the 9MM though. Did great in the G19

What? No mushroom clouds or fallout at the range site? :)

I like 124 gr bullets. I use the RCBS 124 gr RN bullet.

I use a Lee TL 122 TC mold for my nines. I just scrub my G19 more after shooting lead.

I like Lee's 356-120-TC. It works even in all 9mm's so far, including a Glock with stock barrel. I have the 6-cavity, and it works great.

Had good luck with the .358 LEE 125gr. RNFP as well.

I have recently been playing with my Milhec 140 Gr TC mold and it seems much more accurate than my Lee 120gr TC mold.
I am also devlopint a load around the 125 lee round nose to try.

RCBS 9mm-147 147gr FP on top of 3.6 grains of 231 averaging 937fps from a S&W Shield 9mm.
