Field stripping 30-40 Krag

I just got a Krag yesterday. Beautiful little carbine. The guy I got it from bought it and never even shot it. Crazy huh??? Anyway neither one of us knows how to get the bolt out. It would be handy knowlege seeing how I need to slug the bore. No time to waste getting some boolit loads developed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Pry the extractor up with your LH fingertips while lifting the bolt handle up with your RH. With a little practice the extractor will swing up out of the way and the bolt withdrawn.

I use the rim of a 30/40 case to lift the extractor up while turning up to release it from the action. Further take-down of the bolt is pretty easy too. Post if you need any further help with the bolt's detailed take-down.

Krags are herd beasts. You need a minimum of six for them (and you) to be happy.
