I gave up trying to save fools from their stupidity LONG ago.

Too many fools, too little time.

If you're in to tinkering and pranks, copper plate a couple of dozen of your cast boolits for him. Then discover them and pass them on - as you shoot cast.

Many of us have come across these guys and there's no point wasting your time trying to convince them of anything. Last time for me was a couple of years ago. Long after my doubter had run out of ammunition, I was still shooting. I couldn't figure why, for the life of me, he just stood there and watched me shoot.

When we left, I just grinned as I walked past him. As we drove home my wife said his kid was giving him a hard time about so little ammunition and that he should ask to buy some of mine. As I do not sell ammunition he'd have likely just been more irked so it was a good he didn't ask. Not to mention all the egg on his face he'd have had.

The 30-30, 45/70 and soon 45acp have only had cast run though them.
Why waste money on store boughts, lead is free

I'm with Doc on this. The more factory your friend shoots, the more lead for us!

Had a friend tell me the crud from WW would ruin my barrel. Another said he shoots factory ammo so he knows what is in them. I asked what bullet and what charge. "I dunno." was his answer.

I like to teach people and am bothered when they are too stubborn. I like mtgun Bill's comment! lol

I love guys like that, of course he doesn't offer a reason why it's not good. Tell him the barrel on his gun will last 25% longer shooting lead bullets. In a revolver, maybe 50% longer. A lead bullet does less damage to the forcing cone over time.

I only say that I have ammo and you don't. Can I have that brass?

I usually just walk down and get his/and my bullets back outta the berm and then thank him for 50 new free ones.

You all should see the looks I get at the public range when I drag out my .308 win that I built to shoot nothing but cast out of and a box of ammo with lead boolits. Then they really get a shock when I touch it off and it sounds like a regular load, because it is a 180 gr boolit running 2500 FPS.

Best wishes,

Joe

Sounds perfect... You don't worry about sharing... You might mention that those old yellow casings are inferior to the pretty silver ones, too

I too have seen this at the range. I have talked with a few at my range and they were reloaders so I started talking to them about cast boolits and they looked at me as if I grew a 2nd head out of my shoulder! They tried to tell me how it was so hard on the gun to shoot lead and they were going to stick to their condom bullets. I just smiled and said OK.

Bad enough when you run into the ignorance of hand gun shooters on the range, but when they see you shooting cast in a rifle they get really goofy! Dumb a$$es!

There is a small gun shop here, typical old curmudgeon running it, has an opinion on everything. Told me WW were bad to use because of all the sand and dirt that collect on them while they are on the auto, and that it will scratch my barrel. Better to use batteries, he says.

I've seem them too. Penny a boolit or 18 cents for a bullet, and they still wonder how I can shoot more than they can.

Had a guy at the range tell me the other day that shooting cast will strip the rifleing out of your barrel. He said someone gave him a 50 round box of 9mm cast and it ruined his barrel. I asked how that could be and he said he didn't know but there's no more rifleing in it .

I didn't have the heart to tell him that his barrel was more than likely ok, just clean the lead out of it.
