Nessesity being the mother of invention, I made a holster for my flat top until I could find a better one. Its works, for the most part. Not exactly purty. Its a cross draw with a hammer thong and a full coverage trigger guard.

..............If it holds your peestol like you want, purdy isn't a requirement :-). Heck, check out this mag pouch I cobbled up to hold Ruger MkII magazines:

Not pretty, but it works and that's what I was after in the beginning.

My late Uncle would hit the salvation army for old cowboy boots. He cut the tops off and sewed them to fit his Colt '51's. Tooled and all for 10$ as he put it. Gianni

I too used to make up my own items out of leather and I really enjoyed doing it and using it...probably because liked the challenge and nobody else was doing it.

Hmmmmm................... where is that last piece of leather I bought?

That's pretty darn good. Being a MI resident my self and considering the condition the state is in I'm proud of you. I would like to know where you got the leather if you don't mind.

I got a Sportsmans Guide (cheap) scabbard from a flea market, got it and a 330 conibear for $5. The plan was to put it on my motorcycle for goin out hunting. Come to find out, I don't have a single gun that would fit in it. Ar-15...front sight is too high; 870 shot gun...barrels too long; Mauser F-class rifle...ya right. The budget department said no to going out and adopting that forlorn model 94 16" that I found at a gun show. So after I came into the deal for the black hawk I suddenly needed a holster, no chance in finding one local and I prefer to support the hobby leather makers instead of the big names. The scabbard leather it self was good, just the craftsman ship was lacking. So I cut it apart, cut sections of the right size, sewed it together, tore it apart, resized, changed the design a bit and repeated until it looked halfway decent. As soon as I can relocate the rest of the leather pieces I plan to make a belt slide for an extra 6 rds.

Another idea, get a weight lifters belt and sew cartridge loops on the back to make something like this http://www.epsaddlery.com/pc-54-28-4-border-belt.aspx. I prefer my gun belts to be heavy in construction, seems to help distribute the weight.

I have a project I just finished up for a friend here...the first two pics are as it will be shipped as I added some embellishment when the first few pics gave it a barren look.
