My son just traded into this beauty. 4"- 45 Colt. Can't wait to shoot it.

Just had to brag. Apparently there aren't a lot of these in existence.

I have one just like it. One of my favorites. Here is a good read for anyone with a S&W in 45 Colt.

That is a beauty. I love 4" revolvers, and 45 colt to boot.

Gorgeous. Been at the top of my short list for about a month.

I ran up on a 4" light contour barrel in .45 Colt, blued, w/laminated fingergroove grips out in Arakansas a couple years back. Very recent production, apparently some limited run for a distributor as I've not ran up on one like it before or since.
And yes, I'm still kicking myself for not telling him to wrap it up and send it to an FFL holder I know here in Middle Tennessee!!!
Interesting read by John Linebaugh. He's forgot more about a .45 Colt than I'll ever know. Even if some of his load data for a S&W makes me sweat a little bit.

Very nice find ! :)
Interestingly there are two variations of the S&W 25-9. Both are the later unpinned barrel versions. They are the most accurate .45 Colts Smith & Wesson ever produced !

This 5" 25-9 with the unfluted cylinder and "-9" improved cylinder notches was also run as a very similar 25-7.
