Greetings to all. I just joined the group after reading posts for many months. This is a wonderful site and I look forward learning all that i can.
Does anyone have any experience with the 1885 High/Low wall rifles made by Uberti and imported by Cimmaron. Dont have a particular caliber in mind at this time but was seeking info on their quality of construction and how loose or tight the chambers are.
I have a Shiloh Sharps on order but it will be 14 months down the road.
Right now Im shooting my old BSA Cadet Martini in 218 Bee.

I rebarreled my 1885 Uberti last year and shot 4 deer with it.

I really like it.
If you read the De Haas single shot book section on 1885 Winchesters, the Uberti has all the desirable updates for modern cartridges.

Clark...

Run search for 'Uberti Highwall' and you'll find a considerable number of threads discussing their 1885 repros...both pro and con. Mine is a single-trigger .38-55 with 30" full-octagon barrel and it's one of my favorite pieces. Took a bit of load development but, off sandbags, the rifle will consistently hold 2 MOA out to 300M...and that's with iron sights (Lee Shaver Mid-Range Vernier Tang and a Lyman 17A front).

mulehead:
Welcome to the CastBoolits.
On the CastBoolit site that Clark posted, there are lots of pros for the Uberti 1885 Hiwall. My reply is the first one.
Regards

Thank you gentlemen for all of the info. Been doing a number of searches and found mucho data. Still learning how to navigate in this site.
The Shiloh Sharps that I have on order is the Creedmore in 45-90. Have mold in hand to start the casting experience. Its a BACO 535 Money bullet .459 dia. My son works for a radiopharmaceutical company and just dropped off several hundred pounds of pure isotope lead. They have to pay someone to pick it up and haul it away so it looks like Im going to have a unlimited supply.
I am going to try one of the Uberti's in a small fun caliber while Im waiting for the Sharps to arrive. Deliver time is now 14 months

I really like mine in .22 Hornet with a Marbles Tang and fine front bead.

OK I did it. Ordered a Uberti 1885 Low wall from BACO, 32-20 with double set triggers and 30 inch barrel. Unfortunately they are out of stock so it is a back order item. Their website says back orders OK. BACO says they usually received an order from Cimmaron Arms every 3 months or so but nothing lately as they may be producing products for Berreta.
