I've got a very nice condition 629-1 Classic Hunter with 6" barrel that I am thinking of trading. The gun has been in the family for quite a while and I would like to ask opinions on value. I've searched online and found very few that were sold. We don't have the original box or paperwork. It still wears the original Hogue grips and I'd rate it at about 95%. I think the revolver was a special run of 5000, bought in 1988. Its been a good gun but I just don't use it much and would like to try out something bigger.

I have seen them go for $500.00 to $750. i just bought 2 629's off my local shop one was an older 3 inch for $525.00 and the other was a late 80's 5inch for $550.00 I have seen the classic hunters bring $1000.00 or more depending on which version they were.

historicfirearms--Is your 629-1 top strap factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts? The reason I ask is that I once had a 629-1 Classic Hunter, and mine was not.

No, mines not drilled and tapped. I know they made a second run of these in the 1990s, maybe these were d&t???

FYI, I just saw a 629-1 classic hunter on that gun auction site with a bid of $900 with some time to go.
