Dialed in a load for the NOE269 which was 16.4g 2400 avg 1725 fps. It shot nice 2 inch groups. The NOE269 has a flat tip and I have a hp cavity in my mold. Would this be effective on hogs/deer in hte 100yd range. I am inclined to think it would be. I also tried a number of round on some propane tanks that are used a target practice. Round went completely through on 4 out of six shot. the two that didn't penetrate the back side left half dollar sized dimples. I know meat and metal are not the same, but the entrance hole was between the 357 and 44 mag. The muzzle energy is equal to the 44 mag. Has anyone else used 6.5 round in cast to hunt?
I finally have access to a site which I can hunt deer and pigs regularly. I have used 6.5x55 Federal 140g soft points on pigs and they are lethal and effective. I have the NOE269 and Lee cruise missles. I can get great groups with the cruise missle, but the MV is around 1300-1400fps. I may be able to tweak a few more fps out the NOE269 but have not had much seccess with high speeds in the CM.
