I don't load anything that uses lpp's, so what to do with them.

I've attempted the shotgun primer conversion, and although it worked the second time, that was a pain in the rear to do for just 10, and I found 800.

I was thinking maybe I could use them in my plinker .30-30 loads.

Currently my plinker is a 7.0grs of trail boss with a 160gr gc'd bullet. But I'm wanting to do the next batch with a 130gr non gc'd boolit from the 311410 mold(I believe that's the number).

This isn't a 'goto' or 'hunting' round, this is just for the wife and kids to plink with. So, I'm not too familiar with trail boss powder and I can find no information on the 130gr boolit with trail boss.

Is using the same 7.0grs of trail boss with the 130gr cb and the lpp a feasible combination that won't hurt anything? I like the trail boss for the plinker loads because my daughter usually loads those(with supervision) and the trail boss appears to have a reputation of being almost impossible to overload.

If not using the lpp(I'm just trying to figure out a way to burn those up), would the load be a feasible and decent load using a lrp in place of the lpp.

I don't do a lot of experimenting with unpublished/unknown-to-me data, so I figure someone here may have the answer from attempting something similar.

Logic, to me, would dictate increasing the charge to about 8.0grs, but at the same time, I don't think it's necessary, that's why I'm asking. Hodgdon has 6.5grs-9.0grs using the 160gr cb, but no data that I can find anywhere using trail boss and 130gr cb.

I had a website bookmarked with more castload data, but lost it when the computer crashed last month and can't remember what it was called.

I can't even find LPP's in my neck of the woods.

Hey Slim, you aren't too far from my neck of the woods, and I make it to Waxahachie quite frequently, and could arrange a trip in the very near future if you have lrp or spp's to swap for the lpp's.

Just sayin' :drinks:

Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. My van only gets 12.5 MPH and I need what little bit of primers I've got.

I do appreciate the offer though.

Well it sounds like you need to aquire something that shoots LPP's. Sounds like a good excuse for a new firearm.

Yes, need a nice revolver!
LP works fine in cast rifle loads.

Enablers? Us? Perish the thought!

Seriously though, those LP primers work just fine in 30-30 reduced loads. I've used thousands under a 311-316 or 311-419 and 8.0 grains of unique for a dandy plinker. Trail boss should work just as well. Out to 50 yards, they are as accurate as anything else I shoot out of a 30-30, and more accurate than Remington 150 grainer Factory loads from my M-94.

Buy a 1911, clearly this is a sign from above, no other possible interpretation. :bigsmyl2:
