Ive been shooting a first year model 14 smith, with no dash. It shoots wonderful.

It has .3565 throats, and the bore is .356-ish,,in the last 1.5 inches of barrell. After the lead slug gets past this muzzle choke,it almost falls the rest of the way down the barrell.Id say that the first 7 inches of barrell is .358,,the the last 1.375(its a 8 3/8ths barrell) is .356.

Was wondering if these diamentions was common on these revolvers, back in the day?
In order for this barrell to be shaped this way,im assuming that it was hand lapped to have this muzzle choke in it?

It shoots very tiny groups, so obviously, they knew what they was doing......

Also wonder why they felt that the gun had to be bored so tight??? thanks,
