I shot my Stainless , Rossi 92 , 38 / 367 Mag. today at 40 yards rapid fire.

This is a full magazine tube , shot as fast as I could work the lever and line up the sights.

While I realize that this won't win anything at Camp Perry, it will certainly be deadly medicine for the " Bad Guys " out there !

The load was :

38 Spec. case
Accurate 135 gr. cast plain base ( Sized 358 " )
4.0 grs. Promo
CCI Small Pistol Primer

The contour on these bullets allows some super smooth 100% flawless feeding through the 92' . The " flat " on the end of the nose is also good for safety in the tubular magazine :

Oh, did I say .... " I really do like my rifle ! ! "

Mine is an old one, probably mid 80's model.

For certain , Pre - 1987, mine is the " Pre-Safety Model, it is smooth as silk. Feeds and fires 38 Spec. and 357 Mag. loads equally well.

I understand that buying a new one now is " hit and miss ", as to quality control.

Nice shootin pardner. I haven't run mine flat out yet, but I do a lot of cycling the action while watching TV. Before I received my 92 I had already bought the Steve Gunz DVD, spring kit and magazine follower. Got the 92, tore it down, cleaned and did a little filing and put in the parts. That alone smoothed out the action a great deal. That along with hundreds of cycling of the action and it's very smooth.
Congrats on your buy Ben, it looks fantastic.

I just got one of those last year, nothing fancy just the 20 inch blued round barrel and out of the boxit was smoother than any Winchester I have seen and almost as smooth as a Henery. My first day out we shoot almost 2000 rounds through it between 6 people it was that much fun. I even killed a deer with it last year in ky. It was 5.0 grn of unique under a lee 124 round flat nose. I hit her at 25 yards right in the ear, dropped her like a sack of potatoes. After we got done shooting it 2 of my Friends went out and bought one the next day.

I'm happy with my Rossi 92 in .357 Mag. also. I have been playing with a bunch of different loads for the last two weeks and finally found a decent one. I shot my first lever action silhouette match with it today and was pretty pleased in spite of not having good sight settings. The high light of my day was shooting 10 pigs in a row. Not bad for not having shot any silhouette in over 30 years and never with a lever gun. :bigsmyl2:

Edited to add: the bullet was the .358 150 gr Lee and with irons I am getting consistent 1 1/4" groups at 100 yds.

That is going to be a tough one to keep up with once you get the sight settings dialed in! Thanks for coming out to play with us pistol caliber silhouette shooters.

BTW if you buy one for shooting cast boolit silhouette, get the 24" barrel. It "hangs" well for offhand and the added sight radius is a big plus.

Mine is a 20" Hex barrel and it's quite heavy but doesn't waffle around much at all. Get her on target and she doesn't move much at all. I don't doubt that a 24" barrel is ideal for silhouette shooting, the 20" was all that was available to me when I got mine.
