Saw this today and would like to know your opinions about them. At the momet i dont want to drill and tap for a scope but my eyes are not getting any younger and i think levers look kinda silly with a scope and this mount would be easy to return to stock. I only use it for target shooting but do load with 14 grn of 296 with a 170 grn boolit.

Says it for Rossi lever puma

My rossi is a R92-56001 in 357 with a 20" barrel

Thanks, Steve

Depending on when your Rossi was made it may have mounting holes under the rear sight base. I have an new-ish M92 in .454 and it has holes for a weaver-mount "scout scope". Look under the "elevator piece" of the semibuckhorn rear sight - you may already have mounting holes. You may not need any extra holes.

Backtoshooting; I have a Rossi 92 357 mag. that I switched out the factory sights due to old eyes at age 66. I have 20/20 vision for long distance, but for close up I have to have reading glasses and most factory iron sights are fuzzy for accurate shooting.

what I did was to order from Rossi 92 specialist Nate Kiowa Jones, you can find his web site under that name. I got a red fiber optic front sight and his rear peep sight that replaces the safety on the later Rossi 92s that have the safety. Made a world of difference in fast accurate shooting with the rifle. take a look at his site, if you have the Rossi 92 with the safety and you might consider going that way.

like Knifemaker I have the peep sight by Steves gunz. It is a very well made sight and it works.

Back in the 70's I had one mounted on a W94. I assume the mount in the pic meant the scope was offset to the left so shells could be ejected. For me it was a bad idea. I had to take my cheek away from the stock to see thru the scope, that meant increased recoil against my face. And, if you accidentally "cant" the rifle (easy to do) point if impact changes horizontally and vertically .

.

When I want to scope a Winchester top-eject levergun, I use the XS Leverscout Mount and an extended eye relief scope.

The Leverscout mount's front end is anchored in the rear bbl sight dovetail slot; the rear needs two 6-48 holes D/T'd in the top of the receiver ring, inline with the bore.

Here's the links to Leverscout website & Kiowa's (who's in the process of moving his shop over the next few weeks):
