How does this fit in the 308 Win as to the neck for the gas check. Is it below on most chambers? I have a very short throat on my Shilen barrel and was wondering about this boolit. It shoot the LEE version very well, but I wanted to get a mold with more cavities than just two. And it doesn't really cast that well to begin with. The Lee doesn't.

The design looks very similar. I have to have a bore ride section of 0.300" 0.301 will not fit in my bore. It will push the boolit back into the case. I have to seat the LEE right at the crimp grove. No longer.

I haven't tried fit in my rifle yet. But the nose on my NOE clone mold is .300-.3005". Hope that helps.

You could have a nose sizing die made to suit your rifle.

I use the #314299 in .308 Win. Cast from wheelweights, the nose measures .303"+. It must be deeply seated, of course, but to the point of engraving or just slightly below that. Accuracy has been very good. I would guess the #311299 nose is a bit slimmer in diameter, but have had no experience with that mould. If necessary, seating below the case neck won't hurt anything as long as gas checks are crimped on.

Most 311299s have noses that run .298 - .299. Some run .300 which is good. I use the 311299 in many .308Ws wit the GC seated to the base of the neck. It does require 2 things; a longer throat than you have and a magazine longer at or longer than the "medium length" for Cartridge OALs of 2.8" (I prefer to use it with 3" magazines). If you can seat the 311299 to at least keep the top of the GC in the case neck and just kiss the leade then it makes a good single load or with on in the magazine bullet for even the shorter "medium" length magazine rifles. The 311299 shoots very well in both 10 and 12" twist .308Ws BTW.

Mag length is not a problem. I just don't want the check sticking out of the neck.

Here is what I am running into. This is Accurates 165A sized to 0.310" Seated to 2.547"

Here is what happens when I chamber it.

It peels back the lead. I am afraid it will do the same thing with the 311299. It does not do this with all boolits. The LEE 309 200 does not as it has that very small crimp groove it slips under this ridge. The RCBS 200gr SIL does not do it as it is a very tapered boolit.

Showing the ridge is what I wanted to show. I am thinking that the 311299 will be the same way. The 165 gr above the check is below the neck. I only have a few of these left as I sold the mold. It shoots very well with this boolit. I just want the 200+ gr to be able to shoot farther. Hence the 311299.
