Hello,

I'm being offered a very nice colt 45 da revolver it would seem to be a 1917 but this one has a short barrel. Can you guys please help me identifying it?

Here are some pics.

Thanks.

It probably is a 1917 that has seen some serious remodeling over the years.

A 1917 or New service that has been treated to the "Fitz Special" treatment. Fitz - Fitsimons (sp).
Today, every one is aghast at the open trigger guard but if you don't do something stupid, it is not a problem. Back in the day, the trigger was being pulled before the snout was lined up with the target. Some guys were very fast and deadly with this ordnance. I had an Official Police .38 with this treatment and was a great gun but it went away after I hit a guy on the head with it and bent the trigger guard. Could not pull the trigger any more.

You sure have a nice 6 gun but I would loose the Jay Scott fake pearl grips. Contact the executioner for some fine Elk horn grips or put some nice Walnut on it. Just my opinion.
