This is how she came home from a trade. The finish left a lot to be desires and it was real dirty. It did have a vintage Redfield 4X Scope.
I stripped this rifle all down to the guts. The solid brass internal rotary magazine was polished to a mirror finish and re-tensioned when inserted.

Thanks Robert. The Stain is Sherwinn Williams ebony and walnut mix we always use. Once you have a formula you can even go to another state and have it made up and it will be an identical match. The finish is Sherwinn Williams Pre Catalyzed epoxy in gloss. You have to use it all within 60 days or it eats the bottom out of the can along with the plating. The next one I'll do I will surely use grain filler as this stock took many coats with lot's of wet sanding in between coats.
I do all my spraying with an El Cheapo gravity fed $20.00 Harbor Freight Spray gun.

That's a great job you've done on one of my favorite rifles. Looks like maybe 1940's vintage?

Man, your making me want to look for a Savage 99 again - I'm working on Ishapore Enfield 2A1 - any tips about getting all the oil out of it?

for getting oil out of your Enfield stock, a wipe down with paint thinner 3 or four times over a couple of days will do it.

very nice duke, I should do that to mine. I keep my eyes open for a junky 99 in pistol grip fashion as I have a piece of walnut waiting for it and seeing yours reminds me to keep looking.

We finally found dies. They arrived. It's a miracle.
I decided to change out the Weavers for Redfield 2 piece bases and rings.
