I ran across this today. It may benefit some looking for dimensions of a favorite cartridge.

The shoulder is better but the bruising traveled down and around my forearm. It's now purple/yellow I guess due to gravity and those thinners. It sure did a number on me. Thanks for asking. Those are excellent links, BTW.

Yep, the shoulder and bicep and chest look 90% better but the bruise traveled down to the forearm and it's a bit still purple but it'll mend. Most other areas are just yellow. I had to go to the Coumadin Clinic today and they told me to be aware that sort of thing would happen when you're on blood thinners. I plan to go shooting next week sometime. This time I'm taking the 38-55 and 45-70...something not quite as a kicker as the 45-90. The 45-70 is a Browning BPCR and has a much better butt stock.

Really? I find the Browning more of a kicker than a Shiloh. Different bodies, different stocks shapes. Too bad you live so far east, I have a couple 40 cal moulds and would be happy to give you some slugs for the 40 cal you are having made up. It would give you a head start on what you might prefer.

I think the biggest problem with the Shiloh I had was the curved steel butt plate whereas the Browning has the shotgun type and I have a LimbSaver attached to it. Also, the bullet weight/powder charge is different. I had ordered some 40 cal bullets from BACO in the Snover design at about 400 gr and now have that mould along with the "pointer" Lyman makes(410660) at 395 gr with a 1:20 alloy. You're right-we're about as far away as it gets but thanks for that offer.

Speaking of recoil, I don't think even the 45-90 holds a candle to the 58 cal Zouave I have that years ago shot 140 gr of 2F with that mini(510 gr) ball. The recoil actually recocked the hammer! I shot it once.
