Got my new Lee press from Graft & Son

Weight was 19 pounds

Missouri To Illinois

USPS Priority mail

a whopping $23.88

Checked UPS it was $24.00

I don't blame Grafts but this still seems high to me.

If it was shipped in a box other than a USPS Flat Rate, the shipping is based on the weight and size. If it was shipped in a flat rate box, they made a profit on you on the shipping charges.

How much would you charge to take a 19 pound box to someones door in Missouri?

Not the point but I will play

Medium Flat is 12.35
Large is 16.85
both up to 70 lb

This was only 19lb a long way from 70lb and yes it wasn't sent flat rate.

I ordered a Hornady LNL AP with other stuff from Graf and Sons last week. Shipping was free via UPS. Handling was $6.95. Weight is 32#.

Yes it is expensive to ship stuff Just curious though why did you pay shipping at Grafs? Did you choose USPS they offer it but don't recommend it.
It would have shipped for $7 on UPS or Fexex

They didn't give me a choice it just came USPS
How did you figure UPS. I checked the UPS sight and it came to over $24.00
MY account is actual shipping charge

If it fits, it ships. Unfortunately, they don't make a flat rate box 18 x 10 x 10.

For UPS or FedEx, I factor $1/lb to ship. With Graf's, price includes shipping and you pay a small processing fee. On the dealer side of things, I get a discount but it's cash price and I pay actual shipping.

Oh was yours a dealer account? If so then I hope the discount helped to make up on some shipping
A regular non-dealer account gets free shipping any weight with a $7 handing fee
But hey you got a new press to play with

Yes, I've got a dealer account with Graf's since I'm an FFL for ammo reloading. Discount is enough that I can still make profit, but most of the reloading equipment I buy is for my use and not for resales. I get my Dillon 1050 conversion kits there, powder and primers, new brass, factory molds and dies. On the dealer side, they give you a choice of shipping method. For small stuff like the .357 Mag conversion kit I just ordered earler, I selected USPS, so it's only like $5 to ship. Powder and primers I specify FedEx because they are one day faster and cheaper than UPS.

I saved a whole $3.00 good thing it was for me.
Sure glad I didn't order it for someone.
They could order for them self and save even more, if they don't pay sale tax.
Over 20% cost of the press is shipping

Its a great press for the money

I have ordered from several sporting goods dealers and got boxes 3-4 times that size delivered for around 20 bucks. Yes they were a bit lighter but still...........One of those companies which often has the lowest price even has free shipping on select items on occasion..................

I get dealer price with my C&R. Sometimes it might be cheaper to just order w/o the dealer discount. Can I do this?

Yes, just don't log into the /dealer domain to order as a retail customer.

They do, unless you get the dealer discount. With dealer discount,
you have to pay the shipping.

Correct. Retail sales you pay the $7 processing fee. Dealer sales you get a discount, cash price (+3% CC), plus actual shipping.

It's setup on the dealer side so the small guys can make a few bucks but the larger guys that buy a pallet of lead shot for resale make out good too. As a plus, being an OEM ammo manufacturer/reloader, I get access and special pricing discounts on things that normal dealers can't get.

Graf's has always been there for me when I need them and I recommend them to any handloader out there. Graf's is where I buy a vast majority of stuff.
