The molds I'd purchased for my 30-30 came in, so I did some load development.

I need to figure out my clean cold bore POA/POI.

Question:
You've just got home from the range, how do you leave your boolit shot fouled bore?
I don't see leading, but I saw some pure white streaks on and parallel to the lands when left sit for 3 hours or more. It looked like active corrosion, hair thin streaks.

I cleaned, then well oiled it. It cleans-up faster than ever. I am using the 45/45/10 lube mixture.

I have some cast boolit rifles that I haven't cleaned in years. Of course it is desert dry where I live too.

It sounds like antimonal wash. Try using a lube better suited for rifles.

I use ben's red lube and to be honest since using that I have not cleaned a bore with anything unless I screw up and get some leading started.

Humid here. If gun will set a while I run a couple wet patches of Eds Red (with lanolin)through the bore. When time to shoot again, two dry patches and make sure the chamber is very dry and I am ready to shoot again.

I enjoy watching your videos. I Really liked part when you were picking Black Berries.

Try SPG lube. It leaves a good greasy lube star at the end of my Model 94 barrel. This tells me i have enough lube. I also use strait Linotype in my rifles. Hard Lino makes the most beatiful bullet. Bullets sized .310

At those high velocities your alloy may not be hard enough. Try water quenching boolits if using Wheel Weights. Or just use hard Linotype. Can you see rifling on bullet? Does it look even all around?

I have a 1 lb brick of SPG. I can cut you a slice and mail it to you to try. Just send PM with your address.

It approaches 95% relative humidity here quite frequently in the summer months and I NEVER do anything to the bore unless the targets tell me I need to and that is very very seldom if ever. I use a lithium grease /microwax/beeswax version of lithi-bee and never see any signs of corrosion. I would say you have antimonial wash from the wheelweights. Try mixing 50%pure lead and 50% ww's and then waterdrop your boolits straight from the mould this will reduce your free antimony while giving you a similar boolit that will still expand on a deer if you choose to poke one. I believe you have an alloy issue more than anything, but a good lube like Ben's Red or MML might help also.

I checked my other barrels and found the white lines in 3 barrels. Two of which, have never shot lead. I think it is humidity.

Here are 3 of my 30-06 muzzles.
Sporterized Springfield; sat 4 days after 2250fps lead shot through it.

That has good old rust, and slight white streaking.

Then my Eddystone, which has a corrosion eaten bore from decades ago.
76865
That might be hard to see, but that is the same white color. Only jacketed bullets ere shot in this barrel.

Then my Howa has the white lines and the rust.
76866

My shotgun even had white lines. I've never noticed those lines.

The Howa and Springfield cleaned up nice.

I can't tell where the corrosion was.

The corrosion may have helped the Eddystone.

I dry patch then oil patch after shooting, cast or jwords.

the lube I use does NOT prevent rust so oiling after shooting is a must.

The bullet appears to have engaged the rifling perfectly.

I"ll get me some SPG lube or Ben's Red, and the Eds Red for good measure.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I tried a pan lube mixture of 1lbs Gulf Wax, 1lbs petroleum jelly, 2 tablespoons STP; this is the bore a few hours fouled.

My first 2 shots were 2-3 inches higher than expected, but together.

I'm not going to clean the bore, then see where my cold/fouled bore shot hits tomorrow morning.

Win94ae... Maybe I missed something...how old is your rifle with the light streaks? On several new lever rifles (Marlins) I've had streaks like that and couldn't get them out. I called Marlin about them and was told those are residue from the bluing process and nothing to worry about. Through much use they will eventually wear away. I've got one 1894 .44 that has been shot for about five years now and it still has traces of them, but they are slowly wearing away. Maybe that's what you've got.

My rifle is 30 years old; I've owned it since new.
A dry patch will wipe the streaks away.

The blackberry scene was unexpected, and a little random, but it did make me smile.

This is one of the best side benefits of using Bens Red. That Lucas Red and Tacky grease leaves a clean bore that just won't rust. At least not in my rifles and handguns.
I don't clean squat unless I do something wrong and accuracy goes south.

win 94. That is amazing Photography! what camera are you using?

It is a Olympus Tough; it only cost $200; I got it for the shockproof waterproof aspect since I record shooting in the rain also. I use binoculars to get zoomed in a bit closer, (with the videos.)

Thank you!
