I'm waiting on a 454424 mold from NOE, but Al tells me it going to be a few weeks yet. I posted on the bullet exchange and got no takers. Anyhow, I really want to shoot my new Bisley, so I decided to load some HG 68's to get me by. How difficult would it be to use a 45ACP die to put on a light taper crimp? Any tricks or tips....or just all touch?

Shouldn't be any problem you will just have to adjust die for the longer case (assuming it's 45Colt). And if your shooting target loads boolet walk won't be a problem. FB

Adjust it long, and crimp away.

I use a decommissioned .25-06 sizing die to taper my 45ACP ammo. The adjustment is infinite in simply setting the die to the amount of taper you want. The inside of a sizing die is much smoother than the insert on the Lee taper crimp die, too.

It will work. One die maker, Hornady?, used to sell a set of dies that were supposed to work for four different .45 caliber cartridges; .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .45 Winmag, and I think the .454 Casul(sp).

This was at least a decade before Glock came out with the GAP round, but it would probably work for it too.

I do think there would be some serious overworking of brass, but the taper crimp die will work.
