Called up Magma today and they said that my spot in line is in the next batch. I should get a phone call in two weeks confirming my order.

Has anyone tried some of the lubes on the market that does not require heating? I'm lubing and sizing 45-70 and 9mm.

50% alox 50% beeswax does not require heating and you can make it yourself.

I don't make my own but that is what I use in both of my Star sizers.

BAC from White Label Lube is a good one.....less smoke. Then there is Bullshop and randyrat also on the forum who sell boolit lubes.

It all depends what the ambient temperature is where you lube. On a summers day in my shop I don't need to turn on the heater to do Carnauba Red as the temperature is in the high 90's.

Having a Star sizer without a heater limits this fine piece of equipment, IMHO. It is very easy to make your own base and the heat source could be as simple as a clothes iron. A step up is adding a tube heater and thermostat. I have made up heated bases for under $50 that include a tube heater element and thermostat.

If one does find they need a bit of heat a shop light or any hooded light with a 40 or 60 watt bulb sure does the trick. I really do like my base plate heater though.

27judge: it was something like 2 months. I called them for info and told me to put my name on the waiting list. They don't charge or take a card number until right before it ships.
