View Full Version : How many of us own more than one handgun of the same make and model?

Dannix

I feel a bit crazy for even considering picking up another example of a handgun type I already own when I could introduce myself to something new instead, but I've found a particular model and type "clicks" with me, and so I'd like to pick up another one to dedicate to boolit shooting with a bespoke barrel.

So how many of us own more than one handgun of the same make and model?

I'm beginning to understand the mantra of being a one-handgun man, but I'm not sure if that mantra entails literally only one handgun or if it's not uncommon to have multiple examples of that one handgun type.

The way I solve the problem , for the one gun type of thinking is you have to have a( pair and a spare) just to make sure all base`s are covered. Just for the record I have as many as 4 of the same type of handgun`s.:bigsmyl2:

That describes FORD cars (not trucks)!

A recent auto industry study found 90% of all Ford cars built since 2000 are still on the road. The other 10% made it home.

Never mind me.......just babbling, lots of baaaaad experiences with their cars. :hijack:

The single most important situation where one ought own two identical firearms is your primary carry pistol. The logic being that if one is involved in an incident and "borrowed" for evidence that you have an identical firearm which you are intimately familiar with as your back up. I have a pair of Colt Defenders for exactly that purpose, one has a Robar Super Deluxe customization on it, and the second was done by the Colt Custom Shop.

Glocks. They are plastic, square, and have no real beauty to the eye.

However; they are cheap, go bang, and hit stuff. You can never have enough Glocks. One for the vehicle, one for the house, one for the tacklebox, a couple in reserve to liquidate into quick cash, etc.

Love me some plastic fantastic Glocks!!

I have a box of Glocks, but there are only 4 in the box now. I do count the Model 24 as one gun thou it now has a 357 Sig barrel and a 9mm barrel as well. I need to pick up a model 30 and a model 29 also.

I do have two old model Super Blackhawks, but one has the barrel cut back to 4 5/8 inches. That reminds me that I need to find another one of the old model Super blackhawks. I also want to get one of the new models with the 3 3/4 inch barrels.

Have fun with this stuff.

Exactly this is not that rare in any regard I own two Yugo SKS's, two Mausers, Two Ruger 10/22's, two 12 gauge shots guns, you can share ammo and there are different varieties. The only thing which might be rare is 5 1911's of the exact same make, model and color LOL other then it is as common as the common cold. Interesting thread still.

Years ago when I had just one, a Contender Super 14 in 44 Mag. I shot it a lot and was pretty good with it. Had more time for load development with just the one. I kinda miss those days. Now I have to do more generic loading, take more notes and forget projects. So yea I'm stuck with all these extras - oh well.

There are supposed to be 36 or so chamberings that have been done on the Single Action Army revolver pattern. Mine are mostly clones, but I have enough of them to make non-enthusiasts wonder why I have so many of the "same" gun. Two (going on three) in .32-20 alone. Had I but world enough and time (and money), I'd probably wind up with all the calibers. And all the barrel lengths. Grip types and finishes. Target Models too.

Ruger Blackhawks tend to accumulate hereabouts. I have 3 S&W K-frame M&P variants, all with 5" barrels, in 32-20, 38 S&W, and 38 Special chamberings. Also 3 N-frame 6"-6-1/2" variants--357, 41 Magnum, and 44 Special. Logic has little to do with it, I dare say.

These are fairly identical. They are (pre Model 10) Military and Police Hand Ejector .38 Special revolvers with 'C' serial number prefixes (1947 or so to about 1957.)
