Colt M45 review

I had the chance to try out a Colt M45 and put the review on my blog. Thoughts please.

It looks really good and the groups are more along the lines of a $2k custom gun. Oh wait, it IS a $2k custom gun..

Looks like somebody screwed up and actually picked a winner this time, good on them!

It's a little much for me to spend on an edc and that would be my only complaint about it. I would definitely want to try out one of the Check-Mate 7rd magazines for a compact carry gun.

I agree, it is a pricey pistol.
I am glad to the The Marine Corps (even if it is only MARSOC) going to the 1911. I can highly recommend the 7 round Check Mate magazines. Be sure to get the dimpled follower and hybrid lip design.

The Series 80 firing pin safety is visible in the bottom of the slide, for me this was a good inclusion
Interesting. I'm not a 1911 guy, but my impression was the series 70 route was the route to be desired.

Hi, I read you artical, and like it, in it you said your cast (boolits) were 19 Brindel, did they lead the barrel?? that`s way to hard of a boolit for my 1911`s . I learned that when I started casting I used Lineotype Great looking boolits but leaded badly. anyway I got to have this new Colt M45:bigsmyl2:

The cast loads hardness is pretty uniform for what I have been shooting for years. I use Lyman Moly lube and Unique (5.6gr) and have not got any leading from this combination.
I use this same recipe for a handful of Colt 1911s as well as a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt/.45 Auto also without leading.

I would hate to pick between a mortgage payment and the Colt M45, tough spot.
