I thought the .45 Auto did pretty well against the gel, especially the Hornady Critical Defense, Speer Gold Dot, and Winchester Ranger.
I was pretty surprised how far the 230 ball traveled through the gel though.

Never had to shoot a gelatin. Doesn't seem to be any in this part of the country. However, the 45 ACP seems to work right well on everything I HAVE shot with one. Been doing good for better than 100 years now.

I hear you man, never hunted gelatin until now and it is not as good as you might would think. :D

I agree the gel has little flavor or texture; but its easy field dress and butcher.

Hunter, I try to learn something every day. Today I learned that the .45 ACP cartridge is more correctly called the .45 Auto cartridge. Probably not earth shattering news, but knowledge gained, just the same. Thanks for linking us to your blogs, I really enjoy them.

I told myself, back in 2005 or 6 that six Colt 1911s were plenty, then I bought the then new, Colt Defender.

Been happy ever since until I read your blog on the Colt M-45... I was maintaining control just fine until you just HAD to show a view of the left side of the slide. And there it was, in big letters, "USMC". That did it... Semper Fi, Tt.

Thank you very much Treetop.
I remember the first time I called the .45 Auto .45 ACP my father had a come apart, as he was a Marine from the 50s and I received a very stern period of instruction.

I was very excited to try out the new M45.
I could never warm up to the M9, even after The Marines I tried to like the 92FS and I just could not make it happen. I am glad the M45 was not in service while I was a Marine as I may would of reenlisted.
Semper Fi brother.

Don't you mean 'while on Active Duty'?

Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

Not as Lean
Not as Mean
Still a Marine
