Lee 160gr TL GC - 15gr Unique - .303 Brit

Hi Guys

I'm looking to get about 1700 to 1800 fps with Unique using this bullet, going to start at 13gr and work up to 1800 fps, thinking 15gr should do it.

Anyone doing something similiar with Unique in a .308, 30-06 or 7.62x54R?

Would like to stick with MP200 (South African Unique equivalent), so luckily I found some guys with similar loads here. 15 gr should make a lekker cheap load with decent performance.

My last .303 casting goodies arrived, so this weekend I'll drop a few.

I got pretty close to your goal with 12.8gr of Unique in the M91/30 (7.62R) with that Boolit.

"lekker" is an Afrikaans word resembling "nice" in use, but being a bit more expressive.

So, a nice inexpensive load.

If you want a nice accurate plinker load try 7.5 gr bullseye and no gas check.
Runs about 1000 fps.

I found pretty decent results with 14.5-15gr Unique under the Lee 170gr RNFP GC in my 30-06. Not sure about the velocity as I don't have access to a chronograph, but based on load manual data I'd estimate it to be right around your desired speed.

I was practically cursing the English nation and was cursing the .303 and my stumbling upon some boolets for sale. The reloading problems were numerous and costly. I do believe I've got it finally thou, so pip pip

I'm shooting lighter weight boolits of 130 gr. for the same reasons ~ nice cheap plinking loads.

If you are shooting a milsurp, slug your chamber and size to suit the throat. Mine all run around 0.315" so BIG. My Lyman 314299 that cast at 0.312" to 0.313" was too small and did not give good accuracy. My guns like 0.315" boolits.

Also, I found that my RCBS dies were sizing the brass down too far for my oversize boolits which resulted in boolit sizing at seating due to tight neck. This was not a big problem with my NOE 316299 with fairly wide driving bands but was with my NOE 0.314" x 129 gr. which has narrow driving bands. I tried annealing regularly which helped but sizing to 0.313" inside the neck with a Lee Collet Die really made a difference in accuracy.

I suspect those tumble lube bands will size down quite easily if your case necks are tight so watch for that. Seat a few then pull boolits and mic to check if they are sizing at seating.

That's what worked for me anyway.
