Lyman 457122 Mould

I am hoping to get one of these soon,so I can cast and work up loads for hunting season. I will use 1/20 alloy and black powder for use in my Sharps saddle gun with a 26" barrel. Does anyone have any experience with the mold as far as accuracy?

The 457122 is a great hunting bullet. Out of my 30 inch barreled 45-70 Shiloh, it goes 1457 fps with 72 grains of 3f Goex. Accuracy is good to 300 yards. It really shoots well out of my Marlin Cowboy with the 1-20 twist barrel. Your 26 inch barrel should give you about 1440 fps with a case full of 3f.

Thanks for the input. I am looking forward to using the rifle this fall.Hoping the bullet will expand at those velocities with 1/20.I think it should be a good hunting bullet.
