I picked up some Winchester LP primers yesterday. Winchester lists them as dual purpose LP/LPMag, but I was wondering how well they would really perform, in comparison to running my usual CCI's.

Also, Hodgdon doesn't list any primers in there load database (or I overlooked it somehow). I was going to run them in 45C and 45ACP.

John Linebaugh recommends them.

They are my favorite in 10mm.
I think they are a little more sensitive (easy to set off) than CCI 300s

I have the 2012 Hodgdon annual manual sitting here and it lists they used Federal 150 in .45 ACP and the Winchester LPs in .45 Colt. It is their online load data printed in a magazine form.

They are my LP primer of choice.

I use them in all my LP calibers, 45acp, 45 Colt, and 41 magnum with H110 powder. No problems at all. You are good to go.

That is what I use most of the time. The best primer I have found without spending a ton on match primers.

I use them in alot of standard loads. Ive found them closer to standard primers then magnums like the 350 ccis

They are also good with reduced rifle loads such as the 30-30.

Are the newer versions chrome plated like the older White box versions? I here the newer Blue box versions are brass color no chrome plating.

Second. That's the only LP I've ever used, and I've never had a problem.

If you are in the Hodgdon on-line data for the cartridge, click the print button and it will show you what primer was used as well as other info such as barrel length and case mfg.

Brass I have some new ones. Loaded a few a few minutes ago in 500 S&W. Have pistol primers too.

Good primer, less pressure then a full mag and they work great in the Colt.

Good to know. Yeah, that's all that was available here. I have been waiting many, many months to see primers around here, and it's been the first thing available in LP since. I still haven't seen anything in SP, nor have I seen 22LR ammunition, and I can't find 231 or h110. Still a waiting game. I've been wanting to run some loads using Titewad, as there is a lot available up here right now.

Hopefully I'll get a chance within the next few days or weeks.

I light off just about all I load for with WLP WSP WLR and WSR
7.62X39 270 Win. 223 45 ACP 32 Auto 40 S&W 44 Mag. never had a problem.
Everyone has the right to a preference, but like I said I have no problem with Winchester, ( but I have been known to buy what is available )

That's all I use for my 1911 loads. I haven't had any trouble with them.

I have been using CCI primers because that's all I have been able to get. My preference is Win primers, I believe they are hotter.

I guess maybe I should go back and grab some more. Might be a while before they roll around again. Now, if I could just find small pistol primers, and 22RF ammo...

Winchester primers are what I started loading with, and they are still my go-to primers after nearly 40 years.

I think very highly of Win primers , that is my main go to , except for my M1 rifle which uses CCI Mil. hard primers ........

The new box I bought was Blue and no chrome on the primers. I have loaded my usual 45 stuff and have not shot em yet. Should be OK.

I've found that the WLP's almost reach the velocity in my .45 Colt Blackhawk that the CCI 350's attain, but not quite. Accuracy is pretty much the same.

i use the winchester primers over the cci anyday. i will use cci as a last resort or in loads i don't have to depend on.

Good primers.

I prefer Federals as they are easier to light in a couple guns of mine with light springs.

I use em in the 45c and like them a lot, the chrono shows no difference between cci 300 and Win for me. I've had no issues with ignition with any of them.

Shot a bunch of them ( WLP ) yesterday. Worked as advertised. I, too, prefer Federal, but they are not available at the shops close to me.

Yep. Blue box primers are brassy.
