I just picked up my first Mosin and am looking to see what other equipment i need to reload. (ie. type of powder/primers) Also im looking for what molds to use while casting. Any suggestions?

A lot is gonna depend upon the groove diameter of your barrel so it's hard to recommend a specific boolit. That said, outside of an informal 'military rifle' match now and then, I shoot my MN...a 1938 Tula 91/30...strictly for fun and have found the Lee 312-155 over 18.5 gr. of 2400 quite adequate for clangin' steel out to 200M.

+1 for that in the Finn M39 also, although I go a bit lighter, 16 grs. of #2400 for 1450 fps.

Alright I actually got a free cleaning with the purchase so I left it with the gun smith to clean my cosmoline out  haha. Once I get it back I am goin to slug the barrel and I'll be able to give more specific info. All I know now is that it is a hex receiver with a big 1932 stamped into it.

The Lee 303 Brit. Bullet, 312-185 works good. 15-16 grains of 2400 (or 7.5 grains of BE)
Size/apply GC w/ .314" sizer. PAn lube.

Finally got some 1/2" groups at 50 yards from an M44. Used boolits from a newly purchased Lyman 314299. Cast with 20:1 alloy, gas checked. Used the starting load data from Lyman Cast Bullet handbook. Tried Viht N133, Alliant 2400, and Accurate 5744. Smallest group was with the 5744.

Thanks for the information. I went out and finally shot some privi ammo. Didn't look at my groups because I just wanted to shoot the thing. I shot at cantaloup and full two liters. Had a blast!
