View Full Version : What press to use with large 577-450 Martini dies?

Getting ready to reload for my Martini Henry and need a press that will take the large threaded dies, any suggestions??

The Lee classic cast has a removable bushing and will accept those dies, as well as the RCBS rockchucker. There are others, but those to come to mind.

It also depends on the thread the dies and press have. Some presses have a 1½" thread, while others have a 1¼" thread, and I don't remember which is which.

I think the CH4D website has adapters for most of the presses.

If it was me, I would get dies to fit a Rockchucker, since I have one. If you need to buy a press also, just make sure the dies match the press.

Champion will handle 1" dies. Ultramag will handle 1-1/4".

lee bmg press is 1 1/4"
rcbs, hornady, Hollywood, TenX and most everyone else in the bmg arena is 1 1/2"
i do remember a few older presses and some swag presses being 1"

The Herter`s Model 3 Super is 1.25x18 thread.

there is a old lyman press in the classified for sale that may work a lyman comet
single stage press i have the same one and it has a bushing in it to take standard
size dies if you take the bushing out i think it will take the 1x25 die the press
is built like a tank
