Howdy! Picked up a lot of reloading/casting/swaging stuff at a estate sale. Amongst other oddball things were two 3" 38 Special revolver barrels. Any idea what gun they go to?

Thanks in advance!
Jason

Judging by the half mood front sight which looks as made by the factory I'd be guessing something on the order of a smith and wesson K frame revolver. But, all S&W barrels are marked by smith and wesson yours are only stamped as to the caliber. S&W are marked with both logo and caliber. Not much help. Frank

Thanks. Is there a 'standard' thread type that S&W and other's used?

Maybe they are aftermarket...

Try googling smith and wesson K frame barrel threads and see what pops up. One guy used to hit the local gun shows with boxes of revolver parts, barrels and just about anything but frames. J frame barrels were 10 bucks a pop. Frank

I would say they came off a Rossi or a Taurus. Some of their earlier S&W/COLT copies. The full length above barrel lug with that sight mid to late 80's.

Get a set of thread gauges and measure the threads per inch. Measure the diameter as well. Not only will this help you narrow it down, but if you're good with hand tools or a lathe, you can use them for another brand of revolver if the dimensions are the same or larger.

Could they be from some Spanish copy? A Ruby? A Llama? Just a guess.
The sight on the top barrel in your upper most picture is one I've never seen.
